Common & John Legend Receive Oscar Nomination For “Glory”
After winning this year’s Golden Globe Award for “Best Original Song,” Common & John Legend’s “Glory“, from the film Selma, has been nominated for the Academy Award in the same category. They could potentially be just the third Hip-Hop/R&B act to win the award, along with Three 6 Mafia’s “It’s Hard Out Here For A Pimp” from Hustle & Flow, and Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” from 8 Mile.
“Glory” represents the first time either Common or John Legend have been nominated for film awards including the Golden Globes and the Oscars.
The nominees for Best Original Song are as follows:
- “Everything Is Awesome” from THE LEGO MOVIE
Music and Lyric by Shawn Patterson - “Glory” from SELMA
Music and Lyric by John Stephens and Lonnie Lynn - “Grateful” from BEYOND THE LIGHTS
Music and Lyric by Diane Warren - “I’m Not Gonna Miss You” from GLEN CAMPBELL…I’LL BE ME
Music and Lyric by Glen Campbell and Julian Raymond - “Lost Stars” from BEGIN AGAIN
