Joey Bada$$ Rocks His Dilla & Roots-Produced Track With The Roots (Video)
Quite curiously, Joey Bada$$’s debut album, B4.Da.$$ (January 20) includes a track co-produced by The Roots, and the late J Dilla. While the snippets of the Sony Red-distributed LP were promptly pulled from YouTube, many Heads are curious how the Brooklyn, New York millennial would sound alongside the iconic collaboration of members of The Soulquarians-meets-The Ummah.
Well, on “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon” (where Bada$$ made his first national TV appearance), Joey propped up the mysterious track, “Like Me” with The Roots Crew as well as BJ The Chicago Kid. While the Pro Era leader is an MC of these times, his influence and style is so nostalgically-based that this moment feels like something right out of Do You Want More?!!!??!, no?
