Rest In Peace To A$AP Yams, A$AP Mob Co-Founder

This morning (January 18), the Hip-Hop world has been rocked with confirmed news of another tragic death. Twenty-six year-old Steven “A$AP Yams” Rodriguez, a co-founder in the A$AP Mob, and critical force behind the breakthrough of A$AP Rocky has died. Members of the Harlem, New York collective have confirmed the news through social media, while details regarding cause of death are still forthcoming.

Yams was credited with executive production on A$AP Rocky’s 2013 RCA/Pologrounds/A$AP Worldwide #1 debut, Long. Live. A$AP, and A$AP Ferg’s Top 10 debut Trap Lord, after the same credit on A$AP Mob’s 2012 mixtape, Lords Never Worry. Yams would be prominently featured in the collective’s music videos and media appearances.

While the information is still emerging, this is the latest death in a series of tragedies facing young New York talent. In late 2012, Pro Era’s Capital Steez died from an apparent suicide in Manhattan.
