If 2014 was Your Old Droog’s coming out party, 2015 looks to be the year where he proves to all the naysayers that he’s here to stay. His latest song, “Get the Paper” produced by El RTNC, is an ode to the Beastie Boys which features a groove Dr. Dre fans will recognize, as well. Droog lays down a barrage of clever metaphors and similes that will command more than a few rewinds.

As with other MCs who drew comparisons to their influences early in their careers (Joey Bada$$ and Action Bronson, to name a few), Droog is quickly shedding the Nas reference and carving out a style that is uniquely his own. Like his predecessors, however, the skillful wordplay remains.

Think we can expect a Nas/Droog collaboration in the future?
