GZA & Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello Rock Out Amidst The Dark Matter (Audio)
The Wu-Tang Clan’s GZA has been working on his seventh solo album for a few years, and has now released the first single from the upcoming Dark Matter album. The song, “The Mexican”, is a remake of Babe Ruth’s 1972 song of the same name, and features Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello on guitar as well as contributions from Hanni El Khatib and Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s Ruban Nielson. The track is produced by GZA and arranged by Jose “Choco” Reynoso.
GZA wrote on his Facebook page that he had been wanting to do his own interpretation of the Babe Ruth song for some time. Prior to Dark Matter, GZA’s last solo album was 2008’s Pro Tools, although he did join the Wu-Tang Clan last year to release A Better Tomorrow. Listen to “The Mexican” below:
UPDATE: GZA tweeted out that “The Mexican” will not be on Dark Matter, but that the next music he releases will be from the upcoming album.
