Spanish Harlem, New York’s Dave East is one of the artists who is making big noise in the last several months. His Black Rose mixtape is making its rounds, with involvement from Sean C & LV (The Hitmen), Smoke DZA, and Chinx Santana.
“Around Here,” which was released exclusively to MTV late in 2014, suggests why Dave is something different. This track is some personal-diary style Rap, with East talking about his family, his emotionally-troubled past, and the world he lives in. It’s a simple visual, but highly telling of what a modern man’s Uptown experience looks like.
