A New Straight Outta Compton Trailer Emerges. It Still Looks Incredible…(Video)

The latest in a series of trailers has emerged for Straight Outta Compton, the upcoming biopic (August 14) on N.W.A. With Universal Pictures’ branding, this appears to be the real deal, and builds greatly upon the part-trailer, part Chrysler advertisement, part vignette from February.

There are some really interesting things to consider after watching, so pay close attention:

– How much do you see Ice Cube and Dr. Dre in relation to Eazy-E, let alone MC Ren or DJ Yella?
– This is the first time the world gets to see on-screen Suge Knight in action, played by R. Marcus Taylor.
– Dr. Dre’s current business partner, Jimmy Iovine is portrayed, presumably poaching Dre into Aftermath.
– That’s a whole lot of lowriding.

From Friday to The Italian Job, F. Gary Gray is a highly-respected director. How does this film’s authenticity feel to you, from just the trailer(s)?

If you need some more fodder, check out the cast photos (in costume as their role), clearly inspired by the N.W.A. Greatest Hits packaging by Ruthless/Priority Records 20 years ago:
