The Odd Future collective is as diverse as any in music. On one side of the spectrum, there are MCs like Tyler, The Creator and Earl Sweatshirt who’ve brought a new brand of rebellion and nihilism to Hip-Hop. On the other side, there are the soothing and soulful sounds of artists like Frank Ocean. On that end of the sonic landscape is The Internet, the group led by Syd the Kyd and Matt Martians.

The Internet bring a new millennium version of Neo Soul that harkens back to the upright bass-driven music of early Erykah Badu and D’Angelo. Their new song “Special Affair” features a rumbling bass line and Syd’s breathy vocal about the object of her affection. The song is the lead single from the group’s upcoming new album titled Ego Death. The LP will feature OFWGKTA affiliates Tyler and Earl, as well as Vic Mensa, Janelle Monae and more. Check out the single and tracklist below.
