Lupe Fiasco & Consequence Show Us How to Make Every Word Count (Video)

It’s hard to believe that Queens MC Consequence has only released one solo album (2007’s Don’t Quit Your Day Job). Heads may remember him from as far back as ’96, when he appeared on A Tribe Called Quest’s Beats, Rhymes, Life. Nearly 20 years later, he remains respected, both lyrically and for his production. All of that is showcased on “Countdown,” a single from his forthcoming sophomore LP, Start Your Own Business. An official release date has yet to be announced, but a new music video offers up a morsel to enjoy until then.

Joined by Lupe Fiasco and singer Chris Turner, Consequence takes a no-frills approach to the video, using a modest amount of special effects to accentuate what is being said. Shot entirely in black and white, the video features a confetti-like explosion of numbers, geometric splicing, a third-eye symbol, and three lovely ladies. Peep it.
