June brought a number of welcomed surprises in Hip-Hop. Method Man announced he would be releasing a new album in August and dropped three new songs. Jay Rock also revealed his new album was coming this Summer, and returned with some of the best music of his career. Chris Rivers continued his ascension through the ranks, and Lauryn Hill released several new tracks as part of a tribute to Nina Simone.

The month also featured new releases from mainstays like Kendrick Lamar, Ghostface Killah, Action Bronson, Rah Digga, Styles P, Skyzoo, Sheek Louch and Jadakiss. Newcomers like Timbalands’s signee, Tink, and Raury also made noteworthy contributions.
