Start Your Weekend with Dr. Dre, DJ Quik & More with 3 Volumes of a G-Funk Anthology (Audio)

It’s Friday, and a newly released series of G-Funk mixes has got your weekend listening pleasure all sorted out. The first three of a ten-volume G-Funk anthology have been released, featuring works from DJ Quik, Tupac, Tha Dogg Pound, Nate Dogg, Mc Eiht, and dozens more artists who contributed to the vast library of West Coast Hip-Hop flavor (including those from outside California). All in all, there are five hours of material which includes remixes, hit singles, and obscure album cuts.

Curated by Arnaud D & The Genevan Heathen (aka The G-Funk Brothers), the compilation is an exhaustive melange of well-known classics like Ice Cube’s “You Know How We Do It,” Dr, Dre’s “Let’s Get High,” and Tha Dogg Pound’s “Let’s Play House” combined with the lesser-known bangers like MC Breed’s “The Deal Is Da Funk,” Eightball & M.J.G.’s “Space Age Pimpin’,” and the Dove Shack’s “Summertime in the LBC.” Each volume is mixed by a different DJ, allowing for each to interpret the flow of the funk from unique points of view. These three volumes are brought to us by DJ Raze, Jérôme “Tacteel” Échenoz, and Bamboozle, respectively. Press play.
