Big Boi & Phantogram Are Going for the Gold on Latest Single (Audio)

Just two days away from the release of their collaborative project, OutKast’s Big Boi and Electric-Rock outfit Phantogram have been on a tear, releasing their third single in two weeks. Big Grams – the name of their trio as well as the title of their forthcoming EP – has already spawned “Fell in the Sun,” a lead single that continues the musical trajectory the two seemingly antithetical artists first launched with collabs on Big Boi’s 2012 album Vicious Lies And Dangerous Rumors, most notably on “Lines,” which also features A$AP Rocky.

Now, the Big Grams hybrid has dropped “Goldmine Junkie,” a sensuous duet featuring Phantogram’s Sara Barthel’s signature singing into addition to a rap verse. Earmarks of several genres – Hip-Hop, Electronica, Rock – are interwoven throughout, lending some complex layers to the song’s overall sound, a characteristic sure to be found throughout the EP, which is available for pre-order on iTunes. Check out their latest here.
