With their first new album in a decade, Imani, Vol. 1, Blackalicious are pulling out all of the stops. The Sacramento, California mainstays could have just made a typical video. However, given MC Gift Of Gab’s propensity for precise lyricism at rapid speeds, isn’t it fun to show somebody else trying to keep up? That’s what made it so eye-grabbing when Harry Potter‘s Daniel Radcliffe took on Gab’s most famous verse.

So for single “The Blowup,” the Solesides co-founders joined AnimalRobot to channel 2009 animated film, Fantastic Mr. Fox to show foxes, opossums, and badgers bustin’ raps and dancin’ to the vibe. The Academy Award-nominated film (voiced by George Clooney, Meryl Streep, and Bill Murray) was a loose adaptation of the Roald Dahl children’s book of the same name. A lot like Chief Xcel’s samples, this cleverly reworks found elements for the perfect “in” to Imani, Vol. 1.
