DOOM & Ghostface (DOOMSTARKS) Release a Tribute to New York That’s as Grimy as It Gets (Audio)

For the last several weeks, Adult Swim has been releasing a series of singles that match the edginess and counter-cultural themes of its vaunted series. Songs have spanned multiple genres and artists, including Skrillex, Sia and Danny Brown, and forthcoming tracks will feature Flying Lotus, Run the Jewels, and more. Without a doubt, however, it is today’s release that is most likely to leave Heads spinning. Adult Swim has reached into the vault and pulled out a unicorn, in the form of a new DOOMSTARKS track.

Produced by Metal Face, himself, “Lively Hood” features DOOM and Ghostface Killah in peak form, delivering one of the hardest tributes to New York City ever laid to wax. This is not an ode to the sanitized version of the Big Apple, but a super grimy recitation in memoriam of the city that chiseled these hard-grizzled veterans and forged them in steel (and iron). For fans with even a fleeting hope for the DOOMSTARKS project, this is a helluva lifeline.

The single is available for download and will also be made available as a limited-edition physical 7″ through DOOM’s Gas Drawls imprint. Check out the fire here, and stay tuned for future releases.
