For more than 20 years, MCs Sadat X and El Da Sensei have run in the same circles. A product of Brand Nubian and The Artifacts, respectively, these East Coast lyricists have flipped words with flare to stand out amongst their band-mates and peers. Ambrosia For Heads is pleased to announce that the Bronx, New York and Newark, New Jersey veterans are teaming up for a new collaborative project known as XL (a play on their names).

More than a decade removed from their Relax, RelateRelease collaboration “On and On” (and well as Rogue Agents work), the pair unveils “We Must Stand,” teaming them with Grammy Award-winning producer 9th Wonder. The Soul-tinged drum beat complements the message about globe-trotting, upholding skills, and weathering the times (literally). El and Derek play off of each other’s bars, as DJ Iron enhances the sound with scratches. These are two MCs who aren’t going anywhere, only reaching new terrain with their lyrics and sound.

As a note, “We Must Stand” will not appear on the forthcoming full-length album from XL.

With the first quarter of 2016 intended for XL’s album, Heads can look forward to Sadat’s upcoming birthday (December 29) for at least another sampling (a maxi-single) of the duo’s sound.

In the meantime, check out the most current releases from El (2013’s The Immortals Project with Rogue Agents) and Sadat (2015’s Never Left).
