Some Very Respected People Think This 17-Year Old MC Is The Future of Hip-Hop. Meet A-F-R-O (Video)

A storm is coming, and his name is A-F-R-O. Last year, the 17-year old MC won a Rap competition judged by R.A. The Rugged, Talib Kweli, Murs, Jean Grae, Vinnie Paz, Locksmith, Rittz and more. The MC born Jamal Gutierrez was so impressive, R.A. took him under his wing. Though A-F-R-O was a teenager, he was the epitome of an “old soul,” having studied Hip-Hop pioneers like Big Daddy Kane, Kool G. Rap, Rakim, Afrika Bambaataa, KRS-One, GZA and Wu-Tang Clan. R.A. decided to bring the talented MC to New York to meet with many of his idols. As a result, A-F-R-O not only learned firsthand from the legends he admired, he got to spend a week in the studio with the one and only DJ Premier.

A-F-R-O’s journey has been captured in a new documentary titled “Hip-Hop’s Raider of the Lost Art | Uncharted: Power of Dreams” by Uproxx. The film shows extensive footage of A-F-R-O in his hometown, with his family, his trip to NYC, interviews with R.A. and some of the devastating freestyles that the young MC reeled off the top of his head. A-F-R-O is shown as the rare combination of a freakish talent paired with an insatiable thirst for knowledge. Take a look at the MC who many believe just might be the chosen one.
