Joey Bada$$ & Dessy Hinds Drop an Ill Bomb on a 2K15 LL Cool J Throwback (Audio)

By September of 2000, LL Cool J was approaching the end of what would be a nearly 20-year run of Hip-Hop dominance. The 32-year old Cool J asserted his reign on the throne with the release of the album G.O.A.T. (Greatest Of All-Time). The album would become LL’s first and only to reach number 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart. When it was released, Pro Era’s Joey Bada$$ and Dessy Hinds were 5 and 6 years old, respectively, but the album’s impact has loomed long enough to touch them 15 years later.

Joey and Dessy have teamed up on DJ RellyRell’s version of “Ill Bomb,” track number 17 on G.O.A.T. The production, courtesy of EPMD’s DJ Scratch, finds the 2 nimble lyricists right at home. The loping bass line, thumping drums and punctuating horn samples leave ample room for both MCs to breathe on the track, which is part of RellyRell’s Cornerstone Mixtape, Crowd UnControl Vol. 1.

While Pro Era have been linked to a renaissance of a 90s Hip-Hip sound, this track shows that the crew is pro any era that yields dope Hip-Hop. Check it out.
