Aloe Blacc Remembers Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin, Paris & More This Christmas (Video)

Aloe Blacc has released a stunning and powerful video for his song, “Merry Christmas Mr. Brown.” The song is a wistful reflection about a number of the tragic losses that have become emblazoned in our minds over the last few years. Specifically, he pays tribute to Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Sandra Bland, Trayvon Martin, Freddie Gray, Oscar Grant and the victims who died in the recent terrorist attacks in Paris. Accompanied by nothing but an acoustic guitar, Blacc’s voice is haunting, emotional and powerful.

The visuals for the song consist of a stunning collage of black and white candid images of the people of whom Blacc sings, as well as personal photos of their families. The photos are so intimate, it feels like they were provided by the families themselves. As we enter into the holiday season, this is an important reminder to pause and reflect on those we’ve lost and be thankful for those that are still here. Take a look.
