Over the Thanksgiving holiday, Kxng Crooked (f/k/a Crooked I) and Statik Selektah gave Heads some food for thought. “Dead Or In Jail,” which features Jessica Quintero, examines the skewed justice system, and how institutional racism is very much around, in the United States and beyond.

Less than one week later, this lyric video drives this point home. Facts are provided, while Crooked’s lyrics run across the screen. The Long Beach, California veteran’s intricate writing and compound structures come to light, on this substantial record.

As the elusive Crooked I studio solo album is on the horizons, an early look suggests that Statik KXNG (February 16, on ShowOff Records/Penalty Entertainment) may be the type of project that Heads have been yearning for.
