The Role Of Tupac Shakur Has Been Cast For His Biopic. Here Are Photos.

Following a year that saw Tupac Shakur briefly portrayed in N.W.A. film Straight Outta Compton, production of the late Rap star’s own biopic is well under way. All Eyez On Me is the title for the Morgan Creek Entertainment work that chronicles the life, music, and controversy surrounding Shakur. The Hip-Hop superstar was murdered in 1996, the very year he released an album also called All Eyez On Me.

It has been confirmed by film producer L.T. Hutton that the role of Shakur has been cast. Demetrius Shipp, Jr. will play the lead. Shipp, who is a newcomer to Hollywood, reportedly will also star in TV movie, #Unlock’d.

Hill Harper, known for his work in such films as He Got Game and For Colored Girls, as well as CSI: NY, is also starring in the film. He shared images of Shipp playing Shakur:

TMZ has additional exclusive photo footage from the set of All Eyez On Me.

Before producing this film, L.T. Hutton was on staff at both Ruthless and Death Row Records, having worked as a producer and an A&R, including on Shakur’s music. In related news, Daz Dillinger, another music producer/executive-turned filmmaker, has cast his own retelling of the Death Row dynasty. His film, which has its own Shakur role, is said to be titled Dogg Pound 4 Life.

Based entirely on likeness, did All Eyez… seem to get it right?
