Got DJ Skills? We Need You To Make A Finding The GOAT Sweet 16 Mix

Last September, Ambrosia For Heads launched a debate among its readers seeking to answer one of Hip-Hop’s most hotly-contested questions: what is the greatest Rap Album Of All-Time? “Finding The GOAT Album” has considered more than 120 albums from the 80s, 90s and 2000s (40 in each), with options for wild card and write-in candidates. Now that you and your vote have decided the Sweet 16 bracket, things have gotten really interesting.

Finding The GOAT Album Sweet 16

As with our Finding The GOAT MC battles that we hosted in 2014 & 2015, Finding The GOAT Album is as much a celebration as it is a competition. The discussion around these albums has allowed fans to rediscover music that not only shaped Hip-Hop, but many of our lives. As such, we believe the Sweet 16 is a perfect opportunity to honor these LPs, not with words, but through music.

We know that the AFH readership is comprised of individuals of many talents, including DJs. Some of the best mixes we’ve posted have come directly from reader submissions. So, we’re asking you to help us celebrate the albums that made it to the Sweet 16 of Finding The GOAT Album competition by sending us your best mix featuring music from each of the 16 albums, equally.

We are asking that you send us links to your mixes, via MixCloud, to ambrosiaforheads@gmail.com. Please make the subject line “Finding The GOAT Album Sweet 16 Mix,” so we can easily find submissions. We will choose one to post and will shout you out in the mix’s post, link back to your social media and send you an AFH T-shirt.

Here are the Sweet 16 albums. Please only include music from these albums for the mix and weight them equally in your song choices:

Nas’ Illmatic

Eric B. & Rakim’s Paid In Full

Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP

A Tribe Called Quest’s The Low End Theory

Wu-Tang Clan’s Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)

The Notorious B.I.G.’s Ready To Die

Public Enemy’s It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back

Ice Cube’s Death Certificate

Outkast’s Aquemini

Dr. Dre’s The Chronic

Raekwon’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx…

A Tribe Called Quest’s Midnight Marauders

N.W.A.’s Straight Outta Compton

Ghostface Killah’s Supreme Clientele

Madvillain’s Madvillainy

Jay Z’s The Blueprint

Please send any submissions by 5pm EST on Monday, March 21. We know it’s short notice, but hopefully this is as much play as it is work. We look forward to hearing your great work.
