Usher Performs A Stunning Medley As A Tribute To L.A. Reid (Video)

Together with his creative and business partner, Babyface, L.A. Reid was one half of one of the most formidable production duos in recorded music history, and a co-founder of LaFace Records. As an executive, Reid’s imprint has been on the career’s of some of music’s biggest stars, having signed Toni Braxton, TLC, OutKast, Usher, Pink, Rihanna, Justin Bieber and many, many more. As a producer and songwriter, he has powered hits by The Deele, Boyz II Men, Bobby Brown, Whitney Houston and countless others.

Last week, Reid was honored as part of the 2016 BET Honors, and he was celebrated by Usher with a jaw-dropping medley of hits from Bobby Brown, Boyz II Men and himself. While Usher performs the classics with a full band, the arrangements are dramatically scaled down to showcase just how phenomenal the songwriting is. The re-arrangements also remind all, including L.A., what a superstar Usher was and is, and Reid’s awe at his own signee’s talent is on full display. He marvels at Usher as if it was the day he signed him.
