Nipsey Hussle Looks to the Horizon for His Victory Lap (Audio)

It’s been some time since Los Angeles, California MC Nipsey Hussle has been discussing plans for his next album, Victory Lap. Given his already extensive discography of mixtapes dating back to 2005’s Slauson Boy Vol. 1, it’s hard to believe he has yet to drop a full-length studio effort. All signs point to its arrival some time in 2016, and although an official date is still under wraps, fans have been treated to plenty of material from the Mailbox Money spitter. Earlier this month, he starred alongside fellow L.A. rapper YG in a video for “FDT (Fuck Donald Trump),” and in 2015 he appeared alongside Jadakiss and Ne-Yo on “Ain’t Nothin New.” Today, it’s a solo release that serves as a small-yet-satisfying serving of Nip’s pending arrival as a full-fledged recording artist.

“Ocean Views” is – unsurprisingly – a smoothed-out cut which pairs perfectly with L.A.’s beachy sensibilities. Produced by Mike & Keys and DJ Khalil, the apparent loosie showcases Nip’s effortless ability to vividly describe the people and places he encounters throughout his day over production perfect for cruisin’ the streets of a city where the rugged and the tranquil often live side-by-side. It’s also a glimpse into Nipsey’s current state of mind as an artist and by the look of things, it sounds like there are big things on the horizon.
