Missy Elliott came forward in the last two weeks to reveal that she possesses music by the Purple One that Heads have not heard.

In a May interview with CBC Music’s The Strombo Show, the Virginia Beach, Virginia MC/producer revealed that she met Prince after seeking permission to use a lookalike in one of her shows. The two artists would meet soon after. Subsequently, Prince wanted his onetime Warner Bros. Records label-mate on his project.

“He had sent me some stuff, music of his and I moved and I could never find that music,” explained Missy. “And yesterday I was sitting there saying, ‘I have to go to my house, in my storage space and find this music.” The singer did not yet confirm locating the recordings.

The Decade Missy Elliott Waited to Release a New Album May Have Saved Her Career

Elliott has not released an album since 2005’s The Cookbook. All six of her albums have at least certified gold.

Common and The Roots’ Questlove are two Hip-Hop artists who were able to work in the lab with Prince. Kendrick Lamar had reportedly spent time with Prince (and performed on stage with him), though an envisioned To Pimp A Butterfly collaboration was never secured.
