For the seventh consecutive year, DJ Jazzy Jeff & MICK (f/k/a Mick Boogie) punctuate the season with a Summertime mix. The 2016 version, also known as Summertime 7, is big on exclusives, ranging from Jeff’s co-produced opener with De La Soul (“Time For Summer”) to rare Pete Rock remixes of Jay Z album cuts (“Allure”). Jeff also re-edits one of Talib Kweli’s biggest hits (“Get By”), re-structuring a Nina Simone sample.

The two DJs weave in Prince, as well as Eric Clapton, TLC, and Norah Jones to enjoy their wide perimeters. The Hip-Hop parts of the playlist range from late 1990s Bad Boy Records freestyles to Mystikal to Big L to 50 Cent. As always, this mix is far-reaching and quite versatile.
