Lauryn Hill stepped into the mainstream spotlight 20 years ago with The Fugees and a game-changing, commercially-explosive juggernaut of an album known as The Score. In most of the time since, Ms. Hill has been solo, but she still performs some of the records that transformed her career.

One hit is “Ready Or Not.” Often, Lauryn alters the arrangement on the Delfonics-inspired cut that she, Wyclef Jean, and Pras reworked. In gearing up for the upcoming season of “Austin City Limits” (the 42nd), L-Boogie went back to the magic. The songstress (and MC) displays her strongest gifts in one of the best performances from her as of late.

This classy performance is artful, soulful, and a deep reminder that some records never ever go out of style. Ms. Hill announced some tour dates earlier this week, as “A.C.L.” kicks off its new season on October 1.
