Hip-Hop Took The Gold In August. Hear The Best Of The Month (Audio)

August was filled with the Olympics and some of the worst heat of the year, but it also brought some great Hip-Hop. De La Soul released their first album in 12 years, and it debuted at #1 on the Rap chart. Andre 3000 had some choice words for ghostwriters. Nas continued sharing new music, this time via The Get Down, a show which he executive produced and for which he wrote all the rhymes. The Roots did a savvy beer promo that was “Bittersweet,” and Rah Digga made another rare but impactful cameo. Leaders of the New School, like Isaiah Rashad, Nick Grant, Joey Purp and Vic Mensa also made their marks.
