Murda Mook Smothers The Mic In This Head-Hunting 9 Minute Freestyle (Video)

Murda Mook can downright destroy microphones when asked. The Harlem, New Yorker and onetime Ruff Ryders member is nice with the ring of Battle Rap. However, without an opponent, the MC that’s worked with Sean Price and LL Cool J is simply a standout lyricist. Appearing alongside Funkmaster Flex at HOT 97’s studios, Mook removes the guard from the microphone because he says he doesn’t want to catch what other rappers have. While he’s referring to a cold, he also might mean a lack of passion.

That is not the case as M.M. tears into  Cool Breeze’s “Watch For The Hook” instrumental (and later, Murder Inc.’s “Murdergram” beat). The delivery is animated, and sprinkled with frequent clever punchlines. After almost nine minutes of murdering the lyrics into the microphone, Mook lets his machine gun-like mandible rest and assesses the damages.

As a side-note, Mook was one of the MCs that Goodie Mob’s Cee-Lo Green declared as his favorites.
