Kur Is The Next Great MC From Philadelphia. Uptop! Uptop! Makes The Case That He’s Ready (Video)

Pronounced “core,” Kur has released a string of mixtapes which showcase his talent for punchlines and engaging storytelling about his native Uptown Philly. Colloquially known as UpTop, his stomping grounds serve as the inspiration for Kur’s latest video, which takes an everyday portrayal of his neighborhood and combines it with video director Spike Jordan’s eye for detail. “UpTop! UpTop!” is a hometown anthem for Philly natives, but both the lyrical content and the visuals may resonate with Heads across the country, thanks to the song’s relatability.

Fresh from performances at both the A3C Festival in Atlanta, Georgia and his debut cypher appearance on the BET Hip-Hop Awards, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania’s Kur is riding a considerable wave of momentum. Heads may also know his name through his Born Broke, Die Rich EP, which he released in collaboration with Dave East in August. The two reunited earlier this month and hit the BET Cypher stage together, joined by Ms. Jade, Young M.A., and Sam Black.

Newly signed to eOne Music, Kur is slated to drop his debut LP in 2017, before he does, is he ready or not to be a hometown hero on your own playlist?
