With a little help from DJ Premier on the 1s and 2s, Philadelphia’s State Property led the charge in a cypher during tonight’s (October 4) BET Hip-Hop Awards. Freeway, Peedi Crakk, Neef Buck, and Omillio Sparks each took turns putting on for Philly, but social media was set ablaze with people noticing a glaring absence in the group’s lineup, at least at the onset. For the first several minutes of the cypher, Beanie Sigel was not in the building, but upon the end of Philly Freezer’s verse, Beans enters the room and sets the room ablaze.

For many, it was the first they’ve heard from Beanie Sigel since the news of his beef with the Game, and it was a monstrously strong performance only a week after he was reportedly knocked out.

Hosted by DJ Khaled, this year’s ceremony has already crowned Kendrick Lamar as Lyricist of the Year and “All the Way Up” (Fat Joe & Remy Ma featuring French Montana) for Track of the Year.
