Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. Is The Fastest Selling Album Released In 2017 With 1 Million Sold

Since releasing his song “The Heart, Pt. 4” on March 23, Kendrick Lamar has been on an absolute tear. He achieved his first ever solo #1 single, with the release of “HUMBLE.” He also secured his third consecutive #1 debut with his album DAMN. What’s more, with an opening tally of 603,000 equivalent albums (sales and streams) the album scored the biggest sales week of 2017, surpassing Drake’s More Life.

The Rumors Were Right. Kendrick Lamar DID Release 2 New Albums.

Since then, DAMN. has remained at the top of the album charts, with equivalent album numbers of 239,000 in week 2. As week 3 draws to a close, Interscope Records, Kendrick’s record label, has tweeted that the album has achieved platinum status, meaning that it has already moved 1 million equivalent units.

It is unclear whether DAMN. is the first 2017 album release to be certified platinum, but it is certainly the fastest to reach the mark. It continues to live up to its title.
