After 18 nominations, Snoop Dogg has never received a Grammy award in his 25-year music career. Tha Doggfather, whose trophy case does boast an American Music Award and a BET Award, may soon earn an Emmy.

The Grammys Are Making Changes To Do Better By Rap. Now Maybe Snoop & Nas Can Win.

The Long Beach, California veteran MC, producer and actor is nominated for an Emmy for his Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party. The VH1 reality program teams Tha Doggfather with Martha Stewart. The variety show launched last November and features the unlikely pairing of hosts welcoming guests from across music, film, and television. 2 Chainz, 50 Cent, Robin Thicke, and Wiz Khalifa are among guests, as well as Ice Cube—another multi-talented veteran without a Grammy under his belt.

The Emmy committee nominated Snoop in the “Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-competition Program” category. Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party has 10 aired episodes to date.

Other Hip-Hop figures nominated for the 2017 Emmys include Chance The Rapper for “Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics” following his SNL performance in 2016. In the nominated performance, Chance paid homage to Run-D.M.C.’s “Christmas In Hollis” song and music video. LL Cool J was nominated for “Outstanding Structured Reality Program” in regards to his series, Lip Sync Battle. Also a show producer, Uncle L co-hosts the Spike program with Chrissy Teigen.
