From Gold Diggers To Deadbeats, Rapsody Says Ante Up. Enough Is Enough (Audio)

One week from today, Rapsody will release Laila’s Wisdom. This will be the first full-length album from the Jamla flagship artist, since joining the Roc Nation family. A proven master at rhyme concepts and storytelling, “Pay Up” shows more of the polish that this next LP will contain.

Rapsody’s Laila’s Wisdom Tracklist Features Some Of The Best MCs, But She’s In The Driver’s Seat

After premiering “You Should Know,” the double-single featuring Busta Rhymes at the top of the month, “Pay Up” is completely her show. The track looks at the role of money in the modern relationship. Verse one places blame on a woman, milking her man and his wallet for material needs. The second verse deals with a deadbeat dude, who leans back each day, while his lady works hard. The specificity of the lyrics are nice, and make the message very original.

The beat is a peppy dose of Funk-Soul, and Rapsody freaks a cool chorus that matches the mood. Laila’s Wisdom arrives September 22.
