Black Thought & 9th Wonder Confirm A Collabo Project Is On The Way (Video)
In April of 2016, Black Thought and 9th Wonder released “Making A Murderer,” featuring Styles P. Posted online by Jamla Records as a song by The Roots’ MC, and premiered by Ambrosia For Heads, it marked a rarity in the South Philadelphia MC’s catalog that has been tied to Roots material, Money Making Jam Boys (with Dice Raw, Truck North, and S.T.S.), and a plethora of feature work since the mid-1990s. Just over one year later, it was revealed that 9th Wonder and with Salaam Remi are on board to produce The Roots’ 12th group album (and 18th overall project), the band’s first since 2014. In August, Questlove said the next Roots LP is tentatively titled End Game.
This week, 9th Wonder is in New York City with Rapsody gearing up for two Laila’s Wisdom nominations on Sunday’s Grammy Awards (January 28). Meanwhile, The Roots are in the midst of a Jam Session 4-night residency at the Gramercy Theatre in Manhattan. With daytime events at the venue, and nighttime concerts, Black Thought, Questlove, and company have been especially busy.
