In the hours leading up to 2018, some Hip-Hop news was announced that Heads might have missed. Jamla Records’ founder 9th Wonder revealed that this new year promises an exciting collaborative group from two esteemed veterans of Rap music and verse. Detroit, Michigan MC Elzhi and North Carolina producer Khrysis have formed Jericho Jackson. With the announcement, 9th shared a snippet of the merger. For fans of Public Enemy, JAY-Z, or Wreckx-N-Effect, the callback to Lafayette Afro Rock Band’s “Darkest Light” may bring a smile. El’s bars make the reference his own.

Elzhi has a long history of working with the Justus League and Jamla family. He previously appeared on Little Brother’s The Minstrel Show, Phonte’s Charity Starts At Home, and the Jamla Is The Squad compilation. The former Slum Village member last released Lead Poison in 2016 but stayed active in the past year through work with Chris Dave and The Drumhedz, L’Orange, and Page Kennedy.

In addition to Rapsody’s acclaimed LP, Jamla released albums by GQ (E 14th) and Reuben Vincent (Myers Park) during 2017.
