Evidence & Krondon Show That L.A.’s Underground Vets Now Do It Big (Video)

Evidence is an ambassador for quality Hip-Hop in 2018. Not only does he create it, but he also gives shine to other deserving talent—be it by inviting them to guest on his projects, or by hooking them up with a verse or beat. Without seeming retro or throwback, this Venice, California double threat consistently brings a quality product in his art, just like his photography and music videos. The album he graced listeners with at the top of the year, Weather Or Not, delivers the bangers people expect but it also demonstrates a level of honesty that is rare in the game.

E-V has been dropping mad videos for this album. Out of the 16 cuts on the critically-acclaimed LP, he has now done visuals for five of them. From the hard drums courtesy of Nottz, to the scratches, to the references to Hip-Hop pioneers, “Bad Publicity” is a joint that was made for the culture, not the almighty dollar. Strong Arm Steady’s Krondon (aka KRNDN), who’s been busy playing the bad guy on the Black Lightning TV series (as Marvin Jones, III), made time to flip a cold hook for the homie, and he pops up in the vid’ too.

The short film Evidence and Todd Angkasuwan have put together for “Bad Publicity” is about L.A. as it gets. One-third of Dilated Peoples takes viewers on tour of some of the city’s major attractions and landmarks, but they somehow manage to film him by himself on streets and highways that are usually packed bumper-to-bumper with cars. Further, if you watch closely, there is some subtle but well-executed special effects throughout the four-and-a-half-minute visual.

Nottz uses a Bumpy Knuckles vocal for the chorus of the slow, dramatic beat. Notably, he is working with the MC also known as Freddie Foxxx on PopDukes.
