TDE Adds A New MC To Its Championship Roster. Meet Reason. (Audio)

Hi. We recently created AFH TV, Ambrosia For Heads’ streaming video service, because we believe real Hip-Hop deserves its own dedicated TV home, but we need your help to make it great. Please subscribe to AFH TV. It is only $1.99/month or $12/year, and already features some amazing content, but the best is yet to come. Thank you for all of your support.

Much like the Golden State Warriors, Top Dawg Entertainment continues to add more pieces to its roster after coming off of The Championship Tour. The newest addition to one of Hip-Hop’s most winningest teams comes in the form of Reason, the Carson, California MC whose signing to the label was announced via Twitter today (August 8, 2018).

Having previously worked with TDE on the Black Panther soundtrack, on the song “Seasons” (alongside Mozzy and Sjava) Reason can now call himself a full-fledged member of the label. He is set to join Jay Rock on The Big Redemption Tour this fall, and is poised to release new music under the label before he hits the road. Along with announcing his signing to TDE, Reason has also put out what he calls the first release of many, with his song “The Soul.”

The song itself is one long verse lasting over three and a half minutes, showing the raw hunger of an up-and-coming MC. In the length of that verse, he paints the picture of the grind he’s been on, coming up in Carson in the shadow of TDE’s own Ab-Soul, and brings it full circle with his drive to move forward, all while showcasing clever wordplay and sharp rhymes. It serves as a solid introduction for those who slept on his 2016 debut, The Free Album.

Between the mentoring on the road with Jay Rock and the Carson connection with Ab-Soul, Heads can look forward to TDE developing Reason into another one of its champion-caliber MCs.
