Ghostface Killah, KXNG Crooked & More Find Their Chemistry On A “Lost Tapes” Track (Audio)

In preparation for his upcoming Lost Tapes project, Ghostface Killah just dropped a new single. “Buckingham Palace,” which features Benny The Butcher, KXNG Crooked, and 38 Spesh. Previously, the Staten Island MC hinted at the release of the new project (not to be confused with Nas’ album of the same name) back in August with the single “Saigon Velour” featuring Snoop Dogg, E-40 and L.A.D. In addition, the feature list includes Wu cohorts and affiliates, Raekwon, Cappadonna, Masta Killa and Killah Priest alongside some other big names like Ras Kass, Chris Rivers, Planet Asia, Sheek Louch, Big Daddy Kane, and even Michael Rappaport.

The entire project’s production was handled by Big Ghost LTD, a social media personality and producer whose name (and vernacular) pays tribute to Tony Starks. Although the underground beat-maker has been climbing the industry ladder with his production, it’s his no-holds-barred reviews (like this one on Drake’s Take Care)  that bring immediate name recognition. So, in short, it’s safe to assume that this match up in talent will top Big Ghost’s bucket list.

Off the bat, the horn-driven fanfare of “Buckingham Palace” leans more toward Fishscaleera than Supreme ClienteleTony. But it’s the three features that take the track on a bi-coastal journey. Both Benny and 38 Spesh represent for Upstate New York and put out Stabbed And Shot. 38 Spesh, also recently matched bars with G Rap and reps for Rochester, New York while Griselda Gang’s Benny the Butcher for Buffalo. Crooked I (formerly of Slaughterhouse) sprinkles in that West Coast flavor via Long Beach. Altogether, the track gels in a familiar way, not pushing any limits, instead putting out those well spit stories that G.F.K. is known for. Big Ghost lays down a dusty, but brassy sample-based beat.
