It may seem like the nearly decade-long wait for AZ’s Doe Or Die 2 has lasted forever. However, the East New York MC has been putting out some appetizers to hold fans over for the main course, and he has done so on a consistent basis. Earlier this month, Ambrosia For Heads premiered A’s “It’s Time,” a take on Kool G Rap & DJ Polo’s “It’s A Demo.” A video followed, and the MC delivers his rhymes to the camera while lampin’ in colorful bubble jackets in an artful space. Before that, the rapper released a video called “Save Them,” featuring Prodigy and Raekwon.

Now, AZ’s letting all the bars go with the release of a new mixtape titled Legacy. DJ Doo Wop hosts the tape with a consistency and tenure parallel to S.O.S.A. The project is a throwback of sorts as it features freestyles over noteworthy ’80s, ’90s, and early 2000s instrumentals, plus some past guest appearances. For example, A raps over O.C.’s “Time’s Up” toward the beginning of the tape then later includes his lyrical contribution to Vado’s “Da Jux,” which he was featured on years ago when the song was released on the Harlem native’s Slime Flu 5 tape.
