Cardi B Is The First Solo Female MC To Win Rap Album Of The Year
Rapper Cardi B just became the first solo female MC to win “Best Rap Album Of The Year.” The Bronx, New Yorker’s major label debut Invasion Of Privacy won the category moments ago. It also becomes the Atlantic Records star’s first win overall.
The Grammy’s award for “Best Rap Album” first began in 1996 with Naughty By Nature’s Poverty’s Paradise. Other than Cardi B, Lauryn Hill is the only other female to win a Grammy for the category for her efforts just one year later on The Fugee’s 1996 album, The Score, alongside then band-mates Wyclef Jean and Pras Michel.
