Kool Keith Has A New Album Coming. He Turns To B-Real For The 1st Single
In the last 20 years, Kool Keith has become one of Hip-Hop’s most prolific MCs. The co-founder of the Ultramagnetic MC’s has a career that spans more than 35 years in Rap. However, the Bronx, New Yorker has never slowed his roll. Instead, the advanced lyricist has created characters, groups, and worlds where only Keith Thornton can exist.
This summer, Kool Keith will release one of his most noteworthy albums. K.K. is partnering with The Beatnuts’ Psycho Les for July 12’s KEITH. Les, a respected Corona, Queens sample-based producer who emerged out of the Native Tongues family tree, has made memorable records with Mos Def, Chi-Ali, Vinnie Paz, and others.

The Mello Music Group release will feature appearances by Jeru The Damaja, Paul Wall, and Les on the mic. Notably, Cypress Hill and Prophets Of Rage member B-Real appears on lead single, “Zero F*x.” Both Keith and B-Real have history with RuffHouse Records, where Cypress released its acclaimed first four albums, and K.K. dropped Black Elvis: Lost In Space 20 years ago.
Last year, Keith released two projects: the full Dr. Octagon reunion LP, Moosebumps: An Exploration Into Modern Day Horripilation, as well as solo effort, Controller Of Trap. The Beatnuts are said to be at work on a collaborative album with The Alkaholiks. According to a recent Liks interview with 247HH, that LP is still in the works.
