A third Bad Boys movie has been in development for some time. However, reports suggested that director Michael Bay, who gave an explosive touch to the first two films in the franchise, stated a limited budget would not be realistic for another entry in the buddy cop comedy film saga. According to a brief statement given by Will Smith in 2008, Michael Bay became a huge name in Hollywood after Bad Boys II, which in turn made Bay a very expensive director to hire. In conjunction with Will Smith’s meteoric rise since the mid-1990s, the two working on the same project greatly altered production costs. After years of attempts to gather the right creative force to helm the project, it was revealed early last year that Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah would direct the film, taking from a screenplay written by Joe Carnahan and Chris Bremner.

The movie is set to star Martin Lawrence reprising their roles as “Detective Lieutenant Marcus Burnett” and Will Smith as “Detective Lieutenant Michael Lowrey.” Together, they team up one last night to tackle a Romanian mob boss before their respective retirement from the police force.
