Chicago’s Mick Jenkins, less than a week removed from the release of his deeply conceptual mixtape, The Water[s], links up with Brooklyn based MC, YC The Cynic for the cut, “Keep It 100.”

Full of confidence and braggadocio, Mick and YC boast bars dedicated to spitting “the real” over smooth, jazz filled production from Ricky Dubs. More specifically, YC’s lyrics about crooked cops couldn’t be more pertinent to the nation’s social conversation given the recent events in Ferguson, Missouri and the tragic passing of Michael Brown. The lyrics were written before his passing, but are all the more relevant today.

Pick up this cut on Ricky Dubs upcoming EP, Señor Dubs, September 3.
