The Roots Reflect On The 20th Anniversary Of do you want more?!!!??! (Video)

January 2015 marks the 20th anniversary of The Roots official major-label debut album, do you want more?!!!??! (there is a discrepancy as to whether the release date was January 10th or January 17th). The album marked a shift in how Hip-Hop sounded at the time. While Stetsasonic were known as a Hip-Hop band, The Roots took that distinction to a different level with a full band of talented musicians anchored by Brother Question on the drums and two MCs in Black Thought and Malik B.

To celebrate the occasion, The Roots are working with Okay Player to create a documentary film reflecting on the album, and today released an excerpt as a preview. In the 3-minute clip, Questlove and Black Thought give their perspectives on one of their first live gigs in “Norf Philly”.  They tell the tale of how they did the show in a rough part of town, each dressed funny, and were able to win over the crowd. Stay tuned for more to come from the documentary.
