Bumpy Knuckles Releases Some Laid-Back Protest Music for Baltimore (Audio)

Bumpy Knuckles (aka Freddie Foxxx) has a vast catalog of aggressive music with enough energy to start a riot. However, in these times of unrest, he’s released a laid-back, soulful song. But, make no mistake, this is protest music. “Can I Get a Break?!?” plays like an open letter to officers who come into the neighborhood and harass its residents. According to Bumpy, the song was written some time ago, but due to its lyrical content, he felt it was time to share it with the people:

“Thought it was time to dig back into the archives and pull something that was fitting to the emotion of the people. The subject matter never changes in these types of songs until the condition changes in our neighborhoods across the world, even then it will be a historic memory in our lives reflected in songs forever. Sometimes the frustration of injustice just grabs you by the heart and squeezes and you just want to scream “CAN I GET A BREAK?!?!? Where are the leaders that want to really help and not just line their pockets? Let’s not destroy our own communities but stand strong and protect the seniors and babies. Enjoy.”
