Long before his acclaimed collaboration with Talib Kweli, Mos Def was a star. Here’s a look back at the then 19-year old MC (now known as Yasiin Bey), stepping to the mic and wrecking shop on Toronto’s Power Move Radio show.

The clip is an excerpt from the 1994 documentary Make Some Noise, and showcases Mos’ already sizable skills at flowing off the top. Even then, the mega watt personality that would lead to Black Star, a vaunted solo career and movie roles was evident. Check out the video.
