Over the years, Murs has been unafraid to travel down paths many MCs would not go. Whether it’s pursuing his love of graphic novels or taking a hard and unflinching look at intolerance of same sex love, Strange Music’s latest addition to the roster does not back away.

Last month, Murs released “No More Control,” featuring MNDR. The song tackles hot-button issues like police harassment and the seemingly muted response to Black on Black violence, in comparison to recent protests against the killing of Black men by other races.

The visuals for the song follow a young Black man whose life appears to be filled with promise. He goes to school, draws comics and marches to the tune of his own drum rather than succumbing to peer pressure. In many ways, he’s a reflection of Murs…However, the video ends in tragedy with Murs looking on holding a sign that reads #BlackLivesMatter. Take a look.
