Bilal & Big K.R.I.T. Get Loose Over Some Retro Electro Funk (Audio)
Bilal has had an amazing renaissance over the last year. The Neo Soul singer burst onto the scene in 2001 with close ties to The Soulquarians, Dr. Dre and J. Dilla, delivering his critically-acclaimed 1st Born Second debut album. However, it would take nine years for him to release his second LP. He did return again in 2013, but his latest release, the forthcoming In Another Life, is generating a buzz akin to Bilal’s debut. The album features guest appearances by Kendrick Lamar and Big K.R.I.T., as well as production from Adrian Younge.
The latest release from the LP is the K.R.I.T.-assisted “Pleasure Toy.” As with previous singles “Satellites” and “Sirens II,” Younge handles the boards and he provides Bilal and K.R.I.T. with a retro Electro Funk beat that’s tailor-made for body rocking, in all the ways intended.
In Another Life is in stores on June 30. Check out “Pleasure Toy.”
