Common, Nicki Minaj and More Will Join Ice Cube in Barbershop 3 (Behind The Scenes Video)
Out of Ice Cube’s many film franchises, Barbershop is one of the most beloved. The original film debuted in 2002, starring Anthony Anderson, Cedrick the Entertainer, Eve and more, along with Cube. The movie went on to gross $75 million in theaters and spawned a sequel in 2004, a Beauty Shop spinoff with Queen Latifah, as well as a Showtime television series starring Omar Gooding. Now, eleven years after part 2 in the film catalog, Cubevision is readying Barbershop 3 for its 2016 release.
In addition to Ice Cube, Cedric, Eve and Anthony Anderson reprising their roles, they will be joined by some new faces. Nicki Minaj, Common, JB Smoove and Tyga will add to the already star-studded cast. Ice Cube and Common have moved light years away from their early 90s “beef,” started by Cube’s perceived slight by Common’s lyric about the Boyz N the Hood in his classic, “I Used to Love H.E.R.” Now, Cube is an established Hollywood mogul with multiple production and writing credits, and Common, a thespian in his own right, is the proud owner of a recent Academy Award.
Few details have emerged about the movie’s storyline, but Cube has released a first look, behind-the-scenes video showing some footage and revealing some of the new actors in character. Check out the video.
