Tim Westwood digs in his massive vault and pulls out a 1996 freestyle featuring Nas and De La Soul. In an 11-minute cypher amongst true MCs, they pass the mic, trading verses, all off the top. Notably, this is well after each artist was firmly established, with De La Soul seven years in from their 1989 release of 3 Feet High and Rising and Nas 2 years removed from the debut of Illmatic. How many of today’s established artists can you see doing this? Check it out.
